Short Hair Styles

Short hair styles are the new fashion and trend to have. Many celebrities are opting for short hair styles and looking great. Short hair styles tends to work well on all women. However, you must remember that having a shorter hair style does lead to more trips to the salon, normally every five to six weeks for the ends to be trimmed in order to keep the style looking fresh and new. Yet having a longer style can usually last a little longer before visiting the salon.

If you have a longer hair style and are considering changing your appearance with a shorter style, think long and hard about it first and be 100% sure. Once it’s been taken off, there’s no going back and remember that your hair will take a long time to grow back to its original length.

Therefore it is important to decide which style you want, and be sure that it will suit your face before racing off to the salon.

Take some photos from magazines of different styles to the salon and your stylist will advise you accordingly. Don’t just rush in and say ‘lets cut it all off, I want it short’.

Short hair styles tends to work the best with oval shaped faces. However, you can opt to have a short style with lift and volume, if you happen to have a rounder face.

Thicker hair would necessitate a short style that thins the hair, for example, very short layers or some razoring, and possibly a slightly longer length. Finer hair would need to be given some volume in the layers. You can also add volume to thinner hair by using curling tongs and adding waves, or by adding a styling product, such as styling gel or mousse.

Short hair also suits highlights much better than long hair. It is very common, especially with celebrities, to add highlights to the tips of the hair. When the light is shining on the hair, the highlights appear to be more dazzling.

Short hair can also give you a confident and outgoing look. A kind of ‘hey look at me, I’m proud of how I look’ attitude. It has been researched in the past that women with long hair are trying to hide a particular feature of their faces. Whether it is their ears, cheekbones or neck. I do believe that every woman is unique and some choose to have long hair because they like the style and can wear their hair either up or down. With a short hair style you do not have this option.

Again, it has been researched that many women believe that having a short hair style means that it takes less time to prepare in the morning. This is not actually the case. Having short hair means that it has to be styled, and short hair normally requires a product to keep it in place. Whereas, if you don’t have much time, long hair can be combed and put up into a ponytail or bun, etc. and off you go.
